Franchisee Success Stories
The owners who do well here didn’t all start in HVAC. Some came from corporate jobs, some from the trades, one from teaching. What they share is a low tolerance for sloppy work and a willingness to follow a system that’s already been hammered out. Dalton Heating & Air is a Garrison Partners family company, founded in 2003, and every location is independently owned and operated. You run your own business. You don’t run it alone.
Meet Our Owners
Ramon D. – South Texas Coast
Ramon spent eleven years as a service manager for a national chain. He knew how to run crews. What he couldn’t stand was the pressure to push sales numbers over honest work. “Every Monday started with a revenue target, not a quality target,” he says. He left in 2019 and bought his Dalton Heating & Air territory a year later. The Garrison Standard appealed to him because it’s written down and non-negotiable: price in writing before any work starts, do the job by the book, leave the site clean. His coastal market deals with salt air eating condenser coils, so his techs see corrosion issues most inland shops never touch. Ramon says the 365-Day Done Right Promise changed how he sleeps. If a repair fails inside a year, his crew goes back at no charge, and that’s exactly how he wanted to run a business. “I don’t have to argue with myself about cutting corners,” he says. “The standard already made that decision.”
Carmen R. – Desert Southwest
Carmen was a high school math teacher for nine years. She never turned a wrench before joining Dalton Heating & Air. What she brought was systems thinking, which she says is the whole job: load calculations, airflow, refrigerant pressures, all numbers that have to line up. Her market hits 110 degrees in July, and when a unit fails in that heat, it’s a health risk, not an inconvenience. That’s why the 24/7 live phone support matters to her. “Nobody in Phoenix wants a callback window when their AC is dead at 9 p.m.,” she says. Carmen runs two trucks now, both background-checked and uniformed, and she handles the quoting herself. The written price before work starts is her favorite part of The Garrison Code, because it removes the negotiation she hated in every other trade she’d hired for her own house. She still thinks like a teacher: “I train my guys to explain the trade terms, not hide behind them.”
Kurt M. – Pacific Northwest
Kurt spent fifteen years doing commercial HVAC for hospitals and data centers. The work was steady, but he wanted to build something his son could take over. He chose Dalton Heating & Air because the nine-brand factory training covered the equipment he already trusted: Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Daikin, Bryant, and American Standard. In his market, heat pumps outsell furnaces three to one, and the wet winters mean duct sealing and moisture control are half of every installation. Kurt says ownership changed how he thinks about time. “I used to punch a clock. Now I quote a job, set a window, and I’m the one who has to show up.” He’s strict about The Garrison Code’s “leave the site clean” requirement because he’s been the homeowner stepping over a technician’s mess. His son rides along on estimates now. That’s the part he didn’t expect to like so much.
Stephanie P. – Mountain West
Stephanie came from restaurant ownership, which she describes as “HVAC with food.” Same thin margins, same no-shows, same customers who just want it done right the first time. She was burned out after eight years and started looking for something with cleaner boundaries. Dalton Heating & Air’s free second visit policy is what sold her. “If the work doesn’t hold, we go back at no charge. I never had that kind of clarity with a fryer repair,” she laughs. Her high-altitude market means furnaces run six months a year and oxygen levels affect combustion tuning, so her technicians do more seasonal safety checks than most. Stephanie runs four trucks and answers the phone herself most nights. She says the independent ownership model is what keeps her honest: “It’s my name on the truck, but I’m also held to a standard bigger than me. That combination is rare.”
