Why Los Angeles Homeowners Choose Carrier HVAC
Carrier HVAC service in Los Angeles means working on the Infinity, Performance, and Comfort lines we see in homes from Silver Lake to Sherman Oaks every week. We’re an independent Carrier service provider, not a Carrier-authorized dealer, and that independence lets us diagnose these systems honestly and use the parts that actually make sense for your unit and your budget. Call (361) 306-9515 for a free estimate on any Carrier repair or replacement in Los Angeles.
Carrier built a reputation for quiet, efficient equipment, and a lot of Los Angeles and Long Beach homes run on Carrier heat pumps and AC condensing units because they hold up well in our long cooling season. But every brand has its failure patterns, and Carrier is no exception. The Infinity control boards, the Performance furnace inducers, the refrigerant flare fittings on the ductless systems. When you know the patterns, you stop swapping parts and start fixing the actual problem. That’s the work we do.
You’ll find Carrier systems in San Diego and almost every Los Angeles neighborhood: older Comfort series units in El Sereno and Boyle Heights, Performance midrange systems in the San Fernando Valley, top-of-the-line Infinity heat pumps in hillside homes in Sherman Oaks and Studio City. We service all of it.
Why Trust Dalton Heating & Air for Your Carrier HVAC?
Our technicians work on Carrier equipment every week, which means they know the Infinity control logic, the Performance furnace quirks, and the Comfort series’ known capacitor issues without having to thumb through a manual. Marco Benitez, our owner, grew up in East Los Angeles near Garfield Park and has been fixing HVAC systems in the LA Basin for over two decades. He learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, where the lab work covered refrigerant systems, duct design, and load calculations. The last part matters: right-sizing equipment to the house, not just replacing what was already there.
We’re not affiliated with or authorized by Carrier. We say that plainly because it shapes the advice we give. An authorized dealer has an interest in steering you toward new Carrier equipment. We have an interest in fixing what’s fixable and telling you when replacement genuinely makes more sense. That’s a different conversation.
Every Carrier repair we do gets a written price before any work starts, a written guarantee for a full year, and a free return visit if the repair fails inside that window. Those are non-negotiable parts of The Garrison Standard, which Dalton Heating & Air has operated under since 2003. Not as a promotion. As a rule.
Common Carrier HVAC Problems We Fix in Los Angeles
- Infinity control board communication failures. The Infinity 24ANB7 and 24ANB1 lines use a communicating thermostat that talks to the air handler and outdoor unit over a data line. When that communication drops, the system throws a fault code and won’t run. Sometimes it’s actually the board. Sometimes it’s a low-voltage wiring issue or a failed component pulling the data line down. We diagnose the difference before replacing anything.
- Condenser fan motor and capacitor failures on Performance and Comfort outdoor units. Los Angeles summers run long and hot, and voltage spikes from the grid take a toll on capacitors. The Performance 24ACC6 and Comfort 24ABC6 outdoor units are both prone to capacitor failures after five to seven years, especially in neighborhoods with older electrical service. A failed capacitor often takes the fan motor with it if the unit keeps trying to run.
- Inducer motor and pressure switch issues on Carrier furnaces. The Performance 59TP6 furnace is a common sight in Los Angeles homes, especially in the Valley where winter nights get cold enough to actually need heat. The inducer motor pulls combustion air through the heat exchanger, and when it weakens or the pressure switch gets sticky, the furnace locks out and flashes a code. It’ll try to start, then quit. We see it often enough to stock the replacement parts.
- Refrigerant leaks at factory flare fittings on Carrier mini-splits. Ductless and mini-split systems ship with flare connections at the evaporator and condenser. Over time and through thermal cycling, those flares can loosen or crack, letting refrigerant escape. The system still runs, but the coil freezes and the house doesn’t cool. We find and repair these leaks, then recharge the system to the manufacturer’s spec.
- Ignition lockouts on Carrier furnaces from dirty flame sensors. A dirty flame sensor tells the control board there’s no flame when there is one, so the gas valve shuts off mid-cycle. It’s a fifteen-minute fix with the right cleaning and sometimes a replacement sensor. On older Comfort 58SB0 furnaces, we also see worn hot surface ignitors that crack and fail to light.
Carrier Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We use OEM Carrier parts for critical components: control boards, ignitors, blower motors, and anything that talks to the Infinity system. Those parts have to match the exact engineering specs of the unit, and aftermarket versions often cause more problems than they solve. For wear items like capacitors and contactors, we use high-quality aftermarket options that meet or exceed the OEM spec, because they’re readily available and reliable.
We stock common Carrier repair parts locally: capacitors, contactors, flame sensors, pressure switches, and inducer motors for the 59TP6. That means most repairs happen same-day, not after a week of waiting on a parts order. When a Carrier unit needs a repair over $1,500, we give you a straight answer on whether the repair makes sense on a unit that old. A 14-year-old Comfort series that needs a new compressor? You should know what a replacement costs before you sink money into that repair. Call (361) 306-9515 and we’ll walk you through the numbers for your specific unit.
Our Carrier Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis in writing. We pull the fault codes from your Carrier unit, test the actual components with a multimeter, check refrigerant pressures and temperatures, and write down what’s wrong and what it costs to fix. You approve the repair before we touch a tool.
- 2
Repair or replacement with the right parts. For Carrier systems, we use OEM parts on critical components and quality aftermarket on wear items. The price is already in writing, so there’s no upsell at the door.
- 3
System test under load. We run the system through a full cycle, monitor pressures and temperatures, and confirm the fault code is clear. For a furnace, we verify ignition, flame signal, and inducer pressures. For a heat pump, we test both heating and cooling modes.
- 4
Written guarantee. Every repair comes with a full-year written guarantee. If the same repair fails within that year, we return at no charge. The Garrison Code is simple: arrive inside the stated window, price in writing before starting, do the job by the book, leave the site clean, and stand behind the work.

FAQs – Carrier HVAC Service in Los Angeles
No. We are an independent Carrier service provider. We are not affiliated with or authorized by Carrier, and we state that clearly so you know the advice you’re getting isn’t tied to a manufacturer’s sales quota. What we are is experienced with Carrier equipment across Fresno and Los Angeles, from the Infinity control systems to the ductless line.
The communication error on an Infinity thermostat usually means the data line between the thermostat, air handler, and outdoor unit has failed, or one of the three control boards is not responding. We recently serviced a Carrier Infinity 24ANB7 condenser in a Sherman Oaks home where the system tripped the breaker. Our tech traced it to a shorted compressor run capacitor and a failing condenser fan motor. We replaced both with OEM-spec parts and restored cooling the same afternoon. The Infinity control showed a communication error even though the actual issue was mechanical. That’s why diagnosis matters more than guessing. Call (361) 306-9515 and we’ll check the whole system, not just the code.
On the Performance 59TP6 furnace, a repeated lockout with a flashing code most often points to a weak inducer motor, a sticky pressure switch, or a dirty flame sensor. The furnace attempts ignition, fails a safety check, and shuts down to protect itself. We test each component in order: flame sensor signal strength, inducer motor amp draw, and pressure switch operation. Most repairs run $175 – $825 depending on which part has failed. Call (361) 306-9515 and we’ll tell you what your specific code means before we come out.
At 12 years old, a Carrier AC unit is in its final third of its expected service life. If the repair is under $500 and the system has been reliable, repairing usually makes sense. If the compressor has failed or the repair pushes past $1,500, a replacement starts to look better, especially given what new Carrier equipment costs to run versus a 12-year-old unit. Our AC installations in Los Angeles run $4,130 – $8,850 depending on size and efficiency. We’ll give you written numbers for both options and let you decide. Call (361) 306-9515 for a free estimate.
Water leaking from a Carrier mini-split indoor unit means the condensate drain line is clogged or the drain pan is cracked. Allergens, dust, and the occasional insect can block the drain line, especially in Los Angeles where systems run for months at a time. The fix is usually a drain line clearing and cleaning, sometimes with a drain pan treatment to prevent re-clogging. If the unit is also low on refrigerant, the coil can freeze and thaw, causing overflow. We’ll check both. Call (361) 306-9515 for service.
We use OEM Carrier parts for critical components: control boards, ignitors, blower motors, and anything on the Infinity communicating system. For wear items like capacitors and contactors, we use high-quality aftermarket parts that meet or exceed OEM specs. The parts decision depends on what failed and what the system needs to run reliably for years. We’ll tell you which is which and why.
